In-House Services
Training and technical assistance (TA) services are an integral component of Renaissance's programming. Renaissance's Dream Fund applicants are required to complete an eight-hour pre-purchase home-ownership course, "Achieving the American Dream", to better prepare them for owning a home. Staff provides financial education to all borrowers and technical assistance to small businesses pre-loan and post-loan to ensure borrowers have the tools necessary to grow their business and manage their debt.
Our staff has provided one-on-one QuickBooks training to many of our business loan clients. We require regular cash flow reports and financial statements from our loan clients, and have found that many were relying on costly third party accountants or CPAs to produce these reports. In order to help our portfolio clients control costs, our staff regularly teach them basic bookkeeping skills and practices and help them implement and use QuickBooks. After training, our clients can perform these essential bookkeeping tasks themselves.
Furthermore, since 2011, Renaissance staff has provided business development and financial education to over 1,900 small business owners and consumers. Since launching our micro-enterprise development programming in late 2011, Renaissance has provided over 700 hours of technical assistance to 46 potential and existing entrepreneurs.
