The New Markets Tax Credit Program, administered by the US Department of Treasury, encourages investment and job creation in low-income qualified communities. In many cases, these projects are also supported through additional financing tools, such as an SBA loans, to maximize funding opportunities.

Eligibility

Eligible projects must be located in New Markets Tax Credit designated areas of higher distress as defined by the CDFI Fund. 

Eligible projects may include projects such as the following:

  • Healthcare facilities
  • Grocery stores
  • Nonprofit facilities
  • Community facilities
  • Municipal facilities
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Commercial or Mixed-Use developments
  • Other real estate developments
  • Operating businesses
